Only problems with the HR transmissions that I'm aware of is with the internal slave cylinder.

I have an 08 as well. Dropped it off yesterday because it was doing the same noise as chi warriors. I still have warranty so hopefully a new transmission is on the way.

Read through this thread since my clutch is mushy and pretty much sticking to the floor. Taking it in today. I only have 17,000 miles on it too. PRAYING I don't need a new clutch this soon.

Just got confirmation that I need a new slave and master cylinder. So glad I don't need a new clutch right now.

Also, it's being covered under warranty. Awesome news!

Update a week late...

New trans, clutch, flywheel and labor on Nissan's dime. Gotta love warranties--while they last anyway....

Awsome whynot. I've put 300 miles and still no problems. But now I think one of my rear struts is bad. Ugh the problems of buying a used car.

Wish it was that easy. I've been fighting with nissan for over a month for a new slave and I still have my 3yr/36k. They are blaming my problem on my pressure plate and say that's not covered. My clutch is fine but its def wearing more with the messed up slave. Hopefully I get what I need on nissans dime eventually.

Where are you located?

That sucks man, I just went in 2x for the same thing and they got it all in there in in about 3 days, then installed in 1 day and some change

Well, I actually made some progress today. Just spoke with the service manager and he said he's gonna throw in a new clutch for me. I still think I have a slave issue but its fine with me if they wanna give me a complimentary clutch.

Congrats sleeperz! It's about time one of those dealerships finally did something for you!

Thanks PrimeX. It took about 2 months, 3 dealerships and countless trips. I hope they replace the slave while they're in there too.

Would you all say that shifting this car, especially from 1st to 2nd, is kind of a delicate procedure?

When I'm driving slowly just cruising around, the shift from 1st to 2nd is extremely clunky, unless I give it a little extra time between the shift. I kind of have to give it just the lightest amount of force until i feel it go into gear, otherwise I get a little bit of resistance with some clunkiness (I wouldn't exactly call it a grind though). When I'm driving it hard and redlining it pretty much just goes in like I would expect it to, no issues there.

I've had my transmission replaced 3 times (the most recent was just a few weeks ago) and all of the transmissions I had did this.

I talked to the tech at the dealership and he said it was normal. Something about having large beefy gears in the trans just makes it a clunky affair. I'm used to driving hondas and I feel they are much smoother, but I guess all the moving parts in a honda transmission are all smaller so there should probably be less force required. I'm not sure if the tech was just BS'ing or not, I suppose what he was saying made sense.

Default Grrr

This is the SAME exact noise i got. This is the "whine" and best video I could find to explain. Clutch IN no noise. Let the clutch OUT, walked away from the dealership. Other than that noise, the transmission, clutch and car are totally fine. This is what's turning me away from buying a mint 2007 with 50k miles. IDK what to do

My z makes that noise mostly after a cold start or after i drive it really hard. I was told it could be the throw out bearing. Other than that my car runs fine. I realized all Z's are noisy so I wouldnt worry much about it

That noise in yamahaman's video is perfectly normal (i think its the flywheel actually). If you have a bad input shaft bearing it will make more of a high pitched whine that sounds similar to a supercharger and increases in loudness as you rev up the car in neutral (without touching the clutch).

I've already had my trans replaced once because of it, and now 6 months later I think the new trans is starting to do it again

A few guys are saying the same thing.

Like I said before, f*ck it. Wait until before 5yr/60,000 mile warranty expires and get it done if needed.
*Don't fix if it ain't broken*
