Just got my new Tranny last Thursday but it seems like I still have some problem with my 2nd gear. I still feel the knoch when I change from 1st to 2nd & my 5th & 6th gear is really stiff. Especially the 6th.

Does anyone have same issue?

I'm having the same problem with mine, but I already have my aftermarket clutch and flywheel installed. Do you think they'll give me shh@t for it? What can I say to them?

BTW, when you guys post, Can you add the name/location of dealer you went to. It'll be much help. thanx.

My car is in for its second replacement (third transmission). They didn't give me any grief.

1st 6MT lasted 3,000 miles
2nd lasted 9,000 miles
3rd better last a lot longer.
VIN# 004512

I did notice that when I received my car after its first transplant there was a very slight hesitation slipping into third gear. As soon as I noticed this I knew the trans would be going bad again.

If this transmission fails within the next year litigation will be my recourse.

d8abusa, if it happens again you can get a full refund on your car and maybe get the 04's or something. It's called Lemon Law. Any car that has the same problem more than 3 times and the dealer can't fix it, you're entitled to get everything you spent for the car (I don't know about aftermarket parts though). Try to do some research on this, you'll never know.

Also, anyone that has gotten their tranny taken out for any reason by anyone. Make sure that whoever put it back, puts the Nissan Manual Transmission Fluid in it. Anything else voids out warranty for the tranny. Aftermarket clutch and flywhell doesn't necessarily void it out, as long as it's not the reason for the breakage. This happened to me, so be very careful.

Have posted several time regarding this, I just had my 3rd replacement tranny installed(4th tranny counting the original). FIled a complaint with the BBB and they told me that if Nissan were to replace the car through them as arbitrators, they would deduct for the wear and tear on the car, so I told them to tell Nissan I wanted them to close the ticket because that is unacceptable, and that I was going to persue this with an attorney. I now have an attorney, they have all the paper work and invoices, and we are about to enter the game. Lets hope for the best.

I went to Universal Nissan Today to get my tirepressure senor recalibrated. I talk to the Service Mananger Anthony and he was also having an issure with his 2nd gear. At first, he thought that it was his imagination but after talking to some Z owner, He was not the only one. He said that I was his 5th customer that said the same thing. He gave me his business card and the took my phone number down. He said that he was going to order a new tranmission for this Z and do some investigation. He said he will get back to me.
Anthony was great.

Just got my third tranny installed. We'll see how long this PIECE lasts. I felt it catch going into third on the way home. It was very slight but I felt it, just like the last time.

I also filed a complaint with NNA today about the cupping on my tires. Called last week to file the complaint and the agent told me thier computers were down....yea right! Called today to get a status update and wouldn't you know it, no record of my first call.

It is worth noting that the agent Leslie at NNA was very polite and patient while I vented. She is going to let me take the car to another Dealership for a second opinion. Anybody recommend the most sympathetic dealership in the Fort Worth/Dallas area?

Katie at Don Davis Nissan (Arlington, Texas) told me my tire cupping problem is a result of improper tire pressure. And that I had too many miles (13K) on the car for them to do anything. After they perfomed the TSB repair the first time I brought it in the wheels were showing pressure in 20s. The pressure alarm was going off before I got off the lot! I corrected it immediately.

I think I'm going to start the paperwork for Texas Lemon Law. Thanks goodness they put teeth in this law.

I had my transmission replaced at arround 4000 mi. I was told that the replacement transmission was improved with "more robust synchronizers". I am having almost the identical problems I had with the first: rough shifting into 2nd with ocasional hitches in higher gear upshifts. I am suspicious of this "improved transmission". If there is a new option of transmission, it must have a new part number (different from the original). If anyone knows there is indeed an improved transmission please post, and if you know the old and new part number please post so I can check.

I believe the old tranny's code is 006 and the "newly improved" tranny is 007. That's what the dealer had told me. That was at Valencia Nissan, CA

Had my tranny replaced at around 12K miles in July 2003, and the VIN is in the 700s. Problem began to manifest at Mid-Ohio in early April (8000 miles), and the grind began in late June. This tranny is better, but I fear that the 2nd and 5th gear synchros might be weak points on the design of this version (it seems to go into gear really sharply).
