Default Anyone replace the windshield?

Has anyone had their windshield replaced yet? I just got a nice big star, followed by a big crack in the pass side of mine. Luckily in FL we get free windshield replacements with full coverage insurance. I was just curious if anyone had one replaced, and if they replaced it with an aftermarket one or a Nissan replacement.

I got an 8 inch crack today. Pebble hit it and instantly an 8 inch crack. I read that new windshields are softer. Thanks for the info on the price Mike, not a bad price.

I think these windsields must be super soft. I got a huge crack on mine at about 4,500 miles. I was really pissed because I had just replace my M3's windshield a few weeks before. I shopped around and found a place that would install it for $285 out the door. It's allot of work, it took the guy about an hour and a half.

OC_350Z and other that replaced with non-OEM windshield, Does the non-OEM windshield look just like the OEM? The OEM windshield has a black border and the black dots behind the rearview mirror. Was wondering if the non-OEM windshields had the black border and dots?

I have a huge crack in mine and need t get it replaced but can't see myself spending $900 through the dealer. I got a quote from a local place for $300.

Default OEM vs PPG windshield

Check out the make of your replacement windshield by the logo in the corner of the glass by the lower passenger side. Mine was made by PPG. It has the black dots and exactly the same black border as Nissan. Difference is that there is a 'crease' in the glass right where the mirror is at the top, about six inches below the top of the glass. This crease is noticeable only by feeling the surface fo the glass with your hand - I discovered it only when cleaning the glass. Optically, it is not an issue since there are black dots there. No big deal, and a lot cheaper than the Nissan glass.

I got a nice crack that has quickly spread (I think someone was throwing rocks on the freeway). Safelite is coming out today to replace it. I sure hope it has the black dots, etc. Anyone have experience with Safelite?

Looks just like the OEM one. Even the "dot" pattern is the same.

My new windshield looks great. It has the black dots just like the old one too. No worries.

Yeah I have two chips and a crack in mine as well. Was waiting until I finish this contract where I drive 100 miles a day for work. I figure if I replace it before then I'm just going to attract more rocks.
