Default Suspension Nightmare-stock to stance to kw=Same problem

I have a 04 Z roadster, drove about 4.5 years.

After one year owning the car in 05. Put on Tanabe springs to lowered my Z.
Car was good for a year and then the ride got soft and bouncy.

People tell me my shocks are gone due to aftermarket springs. Sure no problem.

Throwing in 1.2K for Stance GR+. Rides like a dream for 2 month and ride got worse after that each day.

Couldnt stand the bouncy ride and noisy springs, bodyshop told me stance is a low grade coilover, and I slammed my ride so shocks failed on me.

Fine, should have gone the right way and bought a qualify coilover.

Did tons of research, found that KW V2 got nothing but good reviews and with progressive springs the ride is smooth plane and no owner seem to have any issues with them.

Another 1.6 K down the drain.

Wow...amazing ride, corners nice immediately after i put them on. Loved it!

guess what?
2 month past by...holy sh*t!!! same thing over again.
bouncy, noisy springs, harshness came right back....its been 3 month now. Suffering from this everyday as a daily driver.

Nissan checked out the car said everything oem is fine, nothing loose. And they all blame it on the aftermarket suspension. I did realize that sometimes the ride will improve a little bit all the sudden for a while. Tech told me that usually means that the suspension has soemthing wrong. Is that true, how come both coilover have the same issue? KW suppose to have a lifetime warrenty and very well built? I dont think the ride will trash in 2 months.

both stance and KW use stock spring mount...so the shocks and springs are separated in the rear.

Sorry for long post but can someone help me? I dont know what to do anymore, I dont want to waste money on another set of coil and ride nice for 2 months and have to suffer from this kind of ride again. thanks

Members get after market shocks and springs to:

Make the car look cool.
A better ride.

What you may end up with is an unsatisfactory ride. A ride that works well on the track or autocross, but is unsatisfactory for the street. Nothing broken or malfunctioning here. Just unsuitable components for your needs.

I have sit in cars that are hard, its not the same feeling as mine.

Tire and wheel size?

Average mileage driven weekly?

Freeway or around town?

Are you at the max drop amount on the Kw setup?

Have you adjusted the rebound settings on the Kw suspension? Where are the dampers set right now?

In each case when you noticed a drop in suspension "likeablity", was the season the same, fall, winter, ect?

I am within driving distance of Kw's North American headquarters if you'd like someone to watch over them testing your dampers, I can do that for you.

20 inch iforged 245 275 falken for the kws, was on stock 6 spoke for stance coil..same problem before I put in the wheels.

150km a week

around town...below average roads I would say, quiet bumpy

dropped 1.5 only, set at med damping

Can kw v2 adjust rebound? I thought only k3?

spring to fall..dont think temp is a factor...

I am in Vancouver=/

Do you guys think roadster makes a difference since its heavier?
I specifically ask THMotorsport if roadster will make the kw hold up shorter, they said no, its design for both coupe and roaster.

Its kinda annoying and makes me want to sell my Z, but other than suspension this car gives me no problem and still love to stare at it after I park it=)

ok let me take a crack...
weather affects how shocks handle... also when you drive after a while do you notice your shocks turning back to normal?
are the road conditions that bad to affect the shocks in such a quick way.. in the 2 or so months that you have owned your coils how many miles sorry i don't do km well..

I took it out today, and I can confirmed that weather matters. The colder the harder the bumpier it is. No it doesnt get back to normal.

Some day i take it out and it gets better and smoother (still not like new) for a couple of days and it return to harsh.

about 3000 miles, a lot of construction but its not very bad. didnt hit any holes though.

thanks buddy

20" + LOW profile tires = rough ride
Having it slammed = less travel = rough ride
Coilovers = rough ride

what did you really expect?

Well the main issue is that ride quality is decreasing. If it was in account of his 20’s it would be like that all the time. The coilovers you have are not cheap bottom end coilovers. Was wondering if it could possibly be in your head? Also have you checked tire pressure lately?

my gf rides with me every week, even she notice the ride difference.
I know 20 and coilover isnt going to ride like a camary. I mentioned the ride with the same set up rides great for the 1st 1000 miles. btw the ride is NOT SlAMMED. 1.5 inch the most!!!

Yes pressure is okay.

sorry man, but it just does not compute that it is a physical issue, unless they are coming loose or something?

have you attempted having the coilovers adjusted? maybe the preload is wrong once the springs settled?

Yes I should try to adjust it at my shop this weekend.

Can you explain preload setting? always heard that term with coilover installation but never really know what it means?
