That's just a generic code most of the time, it doesn't tell you exactly what needs to be done to fix it. That they charge $100 for even if it just turns out to be the gas cap is lose. On cars I've had where it was the gas cap, all the autozone think said was "emissions evap system" or something along those lines. Which could be anything in the fuel system.
Shouldn't they look at the car for free under warranty?

I just went in this past Tuesday to get a state inspection. Apparently everything passed fine. I then drove the car on Wednesday and Friday. I noticed my "Service Engine Soon" light was on. I went in Friday as soon as I noticed it but it was late in the day (and the service adviser told me to come in Saturday).
While I was there, I got my oil changed but and the light looked at. The adviser said it originally could be the gas cap was loose. I opened up the cover and it was on nice and snug. Apparently the test was run, the guy told me it was related to the evap system. Again they said maybe due to loose gas cap. How can this be when I know I tighten the cap as I usually do?
I read some other articles and they also mentioned that it could be the gas cap isn't making a tight seal anymore. We'll I'm out $90 just for the check.
If we found out the code from Autozone (and it was an evap issue), is there anyway to reset this code outside of going to the dealership?
