Default Service engine soon

I dont know if i put this in the right place but, here i go i am new to nissans and i have a 04 350z. I was wondering is the Service engine soon light similar to the maintenance light for hondas (which is just a light that comes on ever once in a while) or is more similar to a check engine light(where something is really wrong)? Sorry im a noob.

even in hondas, when u get the CEL, it really means there is something wrong under the hood.

so, yeah.. when u get a CEL and u haven't done any modding (such as downpipe, exhaust system), i suggest u check with the stealership.

There were 2 lights in Hondas/Acuras

One ment pay us money to reset the switch and tell you you need a bunch of crap done. That is why you could reset the light with a simple button under the dash.

The other was a CEL

You really need to stop with your "sensors" answer.

Obviously there are some sensors involved, since they seem to have sensed a problem and tripped a CEL.

OP- just get the code read at Autozone so you'll have some solid information to go on.

totally could have something to do with it, my last problem was my vdc and slip light were on and the ses light was on sometimes...took it to the shop and some codes read for the cam/crank position sensors...they had to get the parts from nissan 110 a piece from nissan, after that fix i've been fine for the last 5k miles

If you have a base the TCS and slip lights should not be on.

Does it matter if i have a base 350z with a different cluster? Does the base 350z cluster have a tcs/slip light?
