Ok guys, 04 manual that stalls out when I rev it up to lets say 5k, when I take my foot off the gas and the revs go down it will go below a thousand (where it idles) and stalls out. When I start the car it fires off and when it comes back to idle it will stall out. I have to hold the gas down for a while to prevent this. whats the deal?

on another note a few times while cold the engine would knock for a while untill it warmed up.. oil pump? something else? I was on royal purple then this started and I went to mobil one which I have now..

 

As for the oil, Royal Purple is known to cause a knock in the engine, not sure why i would do a search on that. As for the stalling, is the check engine light (CEL) on? Possibly the high idle valve or possibly a PCV valve. could be numerous things but it sounds like a high idle valve.

 

no engine lights, no real warning. as for the other threads I feel like its a mass air flow sensor issue but who knows

 

it could be that as well, but that would usually throw a code. how many miles are on the car?

 

did you reset your ecu or something?

you might need to do a idle relearn

 

93k miles on the car.. have not done any relearn how would I go about that
