Default wierd noises

my Z makes a thud noise occasionally, not all the time, when i change gears, usually in first or reverse when im at a standstill.

its more of a clicking noise, im just wondering would it could be, it doesnt seem normal.

also my car at idle makes a knocking noise occasionally after driving for long periods of time.

can anyone diagnose these problems for me? should i take it in for maintence?

I'm not sure about the knocking you hear after driving but the clicking noise is your rear axles. Make an apointment at your dealer to have them fixed. Their is a tsb out on it and they should know exactly what you are talking about. You can hear the clicking when putting a slight load on the rear, like when you start in 1st or change the momentum from first to reverse, right? Some people have just had to have them tightened but my dealer rebuilt mine.....

that is the exact problem. thank you very much, i will give them a call and have this setup. is this a common occurence among Z owners? and im assuming this will be covered under the warranty right?

thanks in advance.

Not to common, and yes it will be covered (you are under 36K miles right). As for the clicking noise after a long drive, is your car still running? Some people have reported clicking and popping after shutting the car down after a long drive. This noise is just the exhaust heat shields distorting and shrinking from the heat changes. It is normal to the Z and all cars. If you notice the clicking when the car is still running, it MIGHT be something else. Not sure what though.

my car is under 36k, but i believe im on the drivetrain lifetime warranty, thats what im lead to believe. they said as long as i get all my maintence done at the dealership, i would be on that warranty. but my car has only 6,xxx miles so its nothing to worry about.

the noise in the engine bay is more of a knocking noise, and it causes the car to idle very funny, jumps hundreds of rpms at times. once i rev the engine, the knock will go away and the idles will steady out than i let it run for another 30 seconds or so and it will return. but like i said it happens occasionally, i probably dont notice it that much because i dont take the Z out on long trips.
