Exclamation Oil pressure question.

While I was driving home tonight I noticed that my oil pressure gauge was moving all over the place. Normally it sits at one bar below the midway point and goes up to around 60 when the rpms are over 4K. Tonight it would go up to 60 when I hit the gas and while I was still accelerating, it would drop down to the mid point mark. It's been about 6000 mi since my last oil change, but I use Mobil 1 and I don't drive the car hard (and it's been to cold to change my oil lately.) Could this be the problem? Should I add a quart and see if this makes a difference? Now before you say "Pull out the dip-stick and check", I would but I have heard what a ***** they are to get back in. Any incite is greatly appreciated.

Default check the oil

Its best to change your oil every 3k miles. do you not know how to check your oil? Putting the dip stick in is not an all day project or anything.

Think about that statement. You don't want to check the oil level because it too hard to get the dipstick back into the tube, right?

Fluctuating oil pressure is a sign of low oil level. Do you really want to risk damaging your engine because you don't want to check the oil level?
