Default Bose, window, tranny, and chips. Should I tell dealer?

Seems like a stupid quesiton, but others must be wondering the same thing. These are all common problems. I already called NNA about it. But should I get my dealer to do anything? Would it be worth the risk of them f**king up my car even more by removing components of the interior? Nothing is bad yet, but I had to call NNA just for documentation purposes.
Any feedback appreciated.
thanks

Default ASK

I would ask the dealer if they have had many of these problems to deal with, and then ask them if they have fixed them without any problems or complications. You might want to make sure that they are experienced enough with whatever problems you might have not to muck anything up - you know.

My performance was made in May and the only problem I experience is the tranny is not as smooth as I would like. I thought of taking it to the dealership, but after reading how many people on this board have had the same problem, took the Z into the dealership, had them replace the tranny, and still have problems with them now.

I won't take mine unless it gets extreme. You don't know what they could mess up during the fix, and who knows it might not be apparent after 60,001 miles (when the warranty runs out).

Some of the other problems you described might not be such a major fix, so you might wanna at least ask the dealership and go from there.

Bose... Email bose and let them know what the matter is. They let me know they were "looking" for a fix. Nothing promised.
Window.... had my window fixed... dont' do it... it's fixed but the door seems to open as if something is popping out. If it is that you were talking about the grease on the window. If so just keep wiping the grease off and eventually it will go away.
Tranny... took mine in they said def. problem and will be replaced. so far so good.
Chips... can't do anything but wait til it is too much to bear and then either repaint it or just get a new style of bumper...

Heh, good luck my fellow Z lover!

Default I Would Get the Items Fixed.....

If it was me, I would get all the items fixed at the dealer. Now that you have reported the issues to NNA, they can say that you took no action to get the items repaired if these items become worse in the future.

There are Nissan TSB's on most of the items you mentioned. (not the paint chips though, you are on your own on this one......clear bra or something required to stop this)

The window grease issue is indeed one that will go away eventually. It goes away because the component which has the leaking grease seal will run out of grease. Once this happens, the component will begin to wear and eventually you will have a non functioning window. Saying that the problem is gone because all the grease is gone, is like saying "I had an oil leak but now it is fixed because the car has run out of oil".

If the dealership does not get the door panel back on properly, keep taking it back until he does or go to a different dealer.

The transmission problem should most definately get fixed. Why run the risk of getting stuck somewhere?

The warranty is there to take care of these things. The 350Z's produced early on had these problems.........Nissan knows it and has put out the TSB's because of it.

Which Bose problem do you have? Too much Bass or not enough bass? There is a TSB to rectify the too much bass problem. This fix takes all your bass away and you will hate the sound. It would be better to just do the $0.99 fix on your own. Here is a link to show you how:

If you have the "no bass problem", then sign the on line petition about it and make sure you raise heck about it to Bose and Nissan. There are hundreds of people with this problem and there is no fix for it yet. Bose admits the problem, Nissan does not.......but eventually they will have to and do something about it if enough people complain. I have heard that the 2004 Z's do not have the problem so either 2004 owners don't know what bass is, or Nissan / Bose have made a change that they are not telling us about.

Good Luck!
