Default they werent lying when they said the Z was noisy

there are 2 noises that are concerning me about my Z. i have an 08 base with only 700 miles. the first noise happens when my foot is off the clutch. once the car is started and in neutral, i hear a buzzing noise comming from what seems like underneath me when i release the clutch. when i press back down on the clutch, the noise is gone and all i hear is the engine.
what adds to the problem is when i turn off the car while the clutch is released there is an annoying clanking noise followed my a rough rattling vibration after the engine turns off. when i turn the car off while the clutch is engaged it sounds perfect.

the second issue seems to be the tranny. whether normal or not, its annoying. while creeping in first gear or driving in second and sometimes thrird, i hear the tranny under the car. when i turn in low gears i hear what i think is the tranny creak and move around. it sounds as if im driving a 15 year old car. as the gears increase the sound appears to go decrease, but this could also be due to the fact that i might hear it less due to the wind noise that comes along with the speed

please tell me if these sounds are normal or if you thin i shoudl get them checked out.

thanks

it's normal. you have a rear wheel drive car so there is a drive shaft right underneath you. the z's tranny is very notchy which is ok.

first noise would be your flywheel.

second noise sounds like your tranny is moving back and forth from the soft tranny mount.

Yeap, that's normal. I also have an 08 base model. I was concerned about those noises too but I got used to it, and I wasnt really worried about it after I found out it was just how the car was.

On a new car its difficult to tell if unusual noises are normal or signify trouble. Why not go to a 350Z meet, and let an experienced 350Z owner drive the car?

BTW the Z does not have 100 pounds of sound deadening material common on other vehicles.

I've got an 07 Enthusiast with the exact same sounds. Not so much the tranny moving sounds, but definitely the flywheel sound. Worried me when I first got it and now I've gotten used to it. It's still annoying though. I always keep the clutch in when I shut off the car.

Thats normal. After a while you get used to it my exhaust drowns the noise out now. But I think starting in first gear kinda slow and pushing clutch in and hearing that chatter is the worst but its all good

It's not the flywheel making the noise it's the clutch release bearing, and yes it's normal.
