Default poping sound from front!?

Does anyone have this problem? When the car is parked then i would put it in 1st then turn the steering wheel, then there would be a POP in the front! Does anyone know what this is? Is it my ball and joint or is it my tie rod? Dealer said they didn't hear anything! And they DON"T even have a certify tech for the Z car yet!

This is may not it, but just in case, check by searching for "pop" or "popping." I believe someone posted a while back about a popping noise when turning. In their case it turned out to be two loose bolts in the upper front suspension—I think on the passenger side. The dealer tightened them up to spec and it cured the problem.

Good luck.

That's right--my car had the same problem, and it turned out to be a loose control arm in the passanger front suspension. Dealer torqued the bolts to spec, sound gone.

I have the same exact problem, same side of car. Dealership says they can't find the problem. The dumbass greased the stop and told me it was fixed.

Default I had this

A had to go in three times before we could reproduce it. They retensioned all the suspension bolts and it disappeaered.

Does anyone have a pic of the upper control arm bolts? I have this same problem as well (15,000 miles).

alex30327:
I sure don't. If you trust taking your car to the dealership, you could do that. Although, with as many mods as you have they might give you some crap about out being of warranty.

i'm sorry but that cracks me up. a fully modded suspension in your car but you don't know what the control arm bolts looks like? lol

just find the torque spec for the bolt, go to whoever did your suspension for you, and tell them to torque the control arm to whatever the spec is. or use the german spec: goot n tight

Sorry, I'm not a mechanic! I kinda knew where the control arms were, but had to look it up to educate myself. I did not know if I should be looking at the upper or lower control arm bolts. I tried to tighten mine (upper control arm) and I could not budge the bolts, I almost lifted the car off the jack stands trying to tighten these bolts. Does anyone know what the torqe settings are for these bolts? I could not find this info in the service manual. I have had this suspension noise on my car before any mods and it has slowly gotten worse over the past 10 months.
