My 2008 Z has 9000 miles on it and the frt tires are shot due to feathering. I called Nissan and filed a complaint. They have agreed to mount and balance my new tires for free, all four, and align my car for life when I feel it is needed. Has anyone else had this problem for 2008 models. My car is services at dealer every 3000 miles and we have been watching for this issue since it was new. Tires were great at 7500 oil change, then shot by 8800 miles.

 

There's the key to preventing tire-feathering. All cars can have the problem. If you don't keep the front toe set properly, you will get feathering.

I called Bridgestone to see what they would do. They sent me to a Firestone dealer that seems to know what they are talking about. They are going to align car on Thurs day for free and set toe. They state no metter what you do you will get some feathering, it is a sports car thing according to them. We will see. The feathering is occurring to the inner two inches or so of the frt tires.

 

What is the proper setting for the toe?

 

From 0 to 2mm in. The Feathering TSB recommended setting at the max of the range (2mm).

 

funny, once i got rid of the crappy bridgestone tires that came with the car i never had that issue.

 

I discovered yesterday that I have the dreaded feathering problem on my '07. Like the OP, my tires were fine until they weren't. Almost 11,000 miles on the car now, and the tires are mighty loud. Dunno if I'm going to approach the dealer on this, as I did nail a curb last year.
