Default SES help please ):

Hey my Z guys.
I just got a used 2004 305z. And that would be my first ever Nissan so have one question about the Service Engine Soon light.

When i put in the key.. the service engine soon light is on.. but as soon as i starts the engine.. they lights goes off.
I was told by the dealer that its normal and thats the way it works.. The Service Engine Soon light is always on and it goes off when u turn on the engine.. He said that its a problem when the light stays on when the engine is on.

He did some kind of check also..and told that there was no problem found.(no error code or something)

Please do let me know if this is normal about Service Engine Light.

Any kind of information would be appreciated

Thank you,
Ruban

Yes all of your cluster lights will come on when you are starting the car. Its only for a moment though.

All lights on the dash come on when your turn the ignition to on. That's so you can check to see if any of them are burned out or malfunctioning. Some stay on after the car starts for a second or two while self-checks/diagnostics are performed and then they go out. If anything "warning" lights are on after that, then they are probably on for a reason.
