Default Rubbing/scrapping sound when I turn my wheel to the left on 2008 NEW Z

Hey guys,

I've noticed that my brand new Z with less than 1k miles has faint rubbing/scrapping sound occurring when I turn my wheel all the way to the left... I think this happens sometimes when I turn my wheel to the right all the way as well. I think the sound is coming from the front since I can hear it while in the garage or in a parking lot with my windows down. I've also noticed this while turning and braking at a slow speed... Did I get a lemon? How can a new car, carefully driven, (break in period is 1200 miles) have this issue? I'm going to call the dealership later today but want to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue with their Z's. Thanks

Are you sure it's not your tires scrubbing on the pavement, this is typical with newer tires depending on the surface.

No cause I hear a scraping sound underneath my car that you can hear when I have my wheel turned all the way to the left and and moving at a slow speed. This occurs on all different types of surfaces. This sounds like something the Dealership would probably have a hard time figuring out. I can imagine them taking off my tires, brakes, suspension etc and not find out what the problem is... just my luck!

Try driving around in reverse to see if it goes away.

At least you're under warranty. Drop it off and ask for a loaner car.

+1, even if we could tell you how to fix it... why not make the stearship do it and make sure nothing else is f'd?

When I have a chance, I can try going in reverse and turning my front wheel to the left and right to see if I still hear the scrapping/rubbing sound. It sounds like it maybe be the brakes rubbing against something. Also, I don't drive the car much and it would sit in the garage for weeks... not sure if this would cause any issues. Thanks for the replies so far! I left 2 messages at the dealership and no response yet... Perhaps they're not sure what the problem is either lol

True, but I couldnt get an advisor on the phone so I left a few messages to possibly set an appointment. I'm hoping this is not a big issue. The car had like 80 miles on it when I bought it and not sure how it was test driven in the past since this was one of the last few 08 Z's left on the lot. I'm pretty sure it was sitting on the lot for at least 6 months.

Dealership told me to schedule an appoinment to bring it in... The advisor said it could be something that needs lubing. (i'd figured they say that) but are not sure till they test drive it with me. I hope it's something minor... and Nissan does not offer loaner cars unless it's proven that the car is not safe to be driven. My G37 offers free loaner cars... but I guess that's why you pay extra for a Infiniti....

Update: there was small rock stuck on my right brake underneath my brakepad and rubbing against the rotors. Super bad luck... the sound is gone now though
