Tire cupping and dealer replacement?
I have read thru the posts but cannot seem to get a definitive answer.....my dealer said they can rotate the tires and do an alignment but will not replace the tires ....I know some of you have had your tires replaced...was this by nissan requirement or just a decent dealer? should I call NNA? any help is appreciated...
It all depends on the dealer and your situation. If your tires aren't that bad, they're probably not going to replace them. If the tires are so feathered that they're dangerous to drive on, you've got a case for them to be replaced.
My dealer rotated mine, but they know that if my feathering comes back, Nissan's buying me new tires.

Either find a dealer who can effectively communicate with NNA, or contact Nissan Consumer Affairs yourself. The first time I took my car in for feathered tires, the dealer took care of everything. Brand new set of tires; no hassle. The second time (different dealership), they weren't as responsive. They claimed that Nissan wasn't approving new tires. I called Nissan Consumer Affairs, explained the situation, and requested that something be done. Three days later, my car is in the shop, awaiting a brand new set of tires of my choosing. (keeping my fingers crossed for approval...) You just need to talk to the right person and pull some strings...

They had given me brand new tires, along with the alignment, toe-in job when I had 8K miles on the car. Another 8K miles later, now the car pulls to the right, the tires are feathered, again. Obviously the alignment, toe-in specs that Nissan initially gave were wrong, or it's some other problem.
I dropped off my car at the dealership tthis morning, and got a call back from them just now. The dealership says that they have a call into Nissan Consumer Affairs in California(they are at lunch), asking for directions as to what they should do. They have replaced several of the tire feathering issues, but none where the consumer has come back after 8K miles with the same problem. I will not put up with a car which needs new front tires every 8K miles. I will have to read up on the Florida Lemon Law.
Will keep you guys posted. Anyone else dealt with the issue? If you got a second set of new tires, what is the permanent solution?
