Just be smooth, its that simple. Most cars cannot be slam shifted without grinding , thats probably what your doing.
Yes, I was just doing a FnF pun and joking with the OP.

I've had 5 trannys in my Z since 3/2004. Some were real lemons.

Don't let folks tell you that you are doing it wrong. Some of these trannys are garbage. The version 010 (it took Nissan 10 tries LOL) is better than priors.

My z has bad syncros and nissan wont fix it under warranty unless the transmission nolonger works at all.

if i shift at lower rpms it acctually make it more evident.

You are a genius! i just tried this in my Z because my 2nd is a little rough, all other gears are fine. It is just simply amazing how much smoother my 2nd is!!!

Hey, I am kind of a noobie still, but I think there is a plate beneath the shifter that is adjustable. I thought I saw someone mention proper alignment in a thread, specifically for first to second shifts.

When I first got mine I had an issue with the 1-2 being rough and jerking my guts out.

Clutch to neutral, release, clutch to second. Much smoother.

Sometimes I just skip first all together and use 2. You can pull out of 2 almost every time unless your on a very steep hill.

3-2 was bad too until I leaned to heel-toe.

1-2 is hell at redline but fine on normal driving with my CD008 ('04.5). Always has been. CD009 swap seems the only 'sure' fix.

Not sure if you're aware but starting in second will burn up your clutch very quickly...

I have the same problem with my clutch. I've only had the car for a week so i'm still somewhat getting used to the clutch but this is the first time i've been so jerky when driving a stick. I have the 06 model and it seems like the rev-up engine's rpm doesn't drop as fast for me. Like when i disengage from 1st gear my rev seems to hang a little bit before dropping and when i re-engage into 2nd i need to wait half a second for the rev to drop so i can engage without a jerk.

Can't tell if it's the car or me, hopefully it's just me and i can get used to it that way i don't have to change anything out on the car. =/
