Default Changed my pads and rotors today and a few issues

I put on new rotors and race pads today, my buddy helped a bit , anyways now
my e-brake isnt working my buddy said that he reset the drum so it should automatically just readjust or something? And the second problem is when driving I have squeaking/chirping noises coming from the wheels, at first it was the normal noise from installing new pads but then after driving 10 minutes and breaking the pads in, the normal noise became a squeaking noise very similar to a bird chirp. Anybody have any ideas? This was my first time installing rotors but I've done pads before.
Any help is appreciated?
thanks in advance.

"Reset the drums"? Did you change the brakes on a Corolla? When dealing with rear drums, they'll only automatically adjust if they're tight (the rear drum should tightly fit over the brake pads). If you hear squealing from the front, it could be your pads depending on the material they are made from. It's probably not your front rotors, unless they are made from cheap material as well. Double check to see if any shields are touching the rotor which could also cause the squealing.

i would bet on the shielding like ^he said....

just work backwords now and go check everything.....

and yuppers on what vthao also said on the rear ebrake/drums! adjust them to where the rotor goes over them snug like......

Grease that sucker up. And that drums in the back, not auto adjust. You have to do it through the peephole on the face of the drum.

Way to help the guy out, this forum would be nice if *******s didn't waste peoples time. Depending on what pads you get they are going to be noisy. I am running carbotech track pad and they sound like a tractor trailer stopping.

Did you apply grease to the plate backing. NO BRAKES are supposed to squeal.

^ No but ive changed pads before and never needed to do that. Its not a squeal it sounds more like a morning bird chirp.

well I realized the chirping sound has something to do with the e-brake. Whenever I pull the ebrake up all the way the chirping/squeaking noises go away.

What kind of car is it? If it has rear drums, the e-brake usually applies to the rear brakes. Check them out

its the 350z, and IDK what it is but the noise is so loud I can hear it at 60mph with my windows up. I thought it might of been the pads I had on there so I changed those out, but the noise is still there. Im probably going to take it somewhere tomorrow. I was in traffic yesterday and it was quite embarrassing.

Sounds like the rear pads are not adjusted properly. Most likely to loose pull the rear wheels and check them again the rotors should fit on with very little play between it and the ebrake shoes.

Race pads always have noise issues. Nature of the beast.
