Replacing the ignition key... Need input.
My ignition key's housing has cracked and broken. I need to replace it,
but was stunned to find out that the key and service required (as apparently
you need a consult to program) would cost roughly $250 with tax included.
Is there any other way to get an authentic key setup without involving the
stealership???
I bought an ebay blank, but that thing is SUPER bogus.
Your input would be greatly appreciated. I searched for half an hour and
came up with ZILCH.

The key is cheap - it's the use of Consult II that you're paying for. The key has to be matched to the ECU in order to work. Only Nissan/Infinity dealers (and a few big Nissan shops) have Consult - it's the diagnostic system that they use on our cars.
Try several dealers, some seem to charge a lot more than others for the same service. You might luck out.
