Occasional starting problem.
Every few days or so, when I turn the car on....the engine fires up and the rpms fall down to 0 and it turns off within a second. And it will keep doing this, until I turn it on and give it some gas/bring up the rpm's myself.
Any potential reasons why this would be happening? It never completely fails, because every time I give it some gas it stays on just fine. But why?

Have you installed a CAI or Plenum spacer recently ? disconnect the battery for any reason? try checking the intake for leaks and a dirty MAF sensor as VTHAO stated.
This happens to me everytime I disconnect the battery , takes about a month for the ECU to relearn and go back to normal. Seems to be a pretty common problem...
