Default What Is This Wacky Noise!!!

I was wondering if anybody has experienced this same problem that I have.

Every now and then, I will hear a noise coming from what seems like the drivers side of my car. If I roll down the windows and have my radio off, it sounds almost like a nail is stuck in one of my tires and with every revolution on the tires I can hear a slight clicking noise which gets faster as I go faster. The best way to hear this is in a parking garage or a street with no traffic.

I was wondering if this is the noise that everybody hears with tire feathering. I have only 4000 miles on the car and have checked my tires to see if there were any nails and there weren't. And also the noise doesnt happen everytime, just every now and then. So, if anybody could help, please reply.

To clarify the noise, imagine holding a piece of paper or a poker playing card to a fan (but just not as fast), this is almost what the noise sounds like.

Definitely dont have the noise. Also, tire feathering sounds like a "roar" when you're going around 30mph. Most notice it when theyre about to come to a stop. Take it to dealer man

Sounds like a stone stock on one of the tires.... you sure there's nothing on the tire?

Hey peterhong I know precisely what you are talking about. I actually posted a thread about it a bunch of months ago entitled "high speed tinkling." It is a tough sound to even describe but my Z has got it too. The sound begins at anywhere from 60 to 80 mph and becomes more intese the faster I go. Here is something else odd about it, it seems to subside on wet and/or humid days. I have no clue what is causing it (I am not really inclined to disassemble the door trying to track it down). I'v told to the dealer about it twice but both days the sound didn't occur (of course). I still plan on taking the car in when I get a chance becuase it really gets under my skin. If you have any sucess in addressing this problem I would really appreciate it if you passed the word on to me. I'll be sure to do the same.

My noise actually doesnt start at 60-80 mph, it starts literally at 1-2 mph and it gets faster and more rapid as I speed up. I swear, even on the freeway I can roll down my windows and turn down my radio and I can still hear the little clicking sound. It sounds almost as if a pebble is stuck in one of the tires. I am going to take it to a tire store and have them jack up my car and spin the tires to see if anything is stuck. Hopefully it is just a stone or pebble stuck in the tire tread cause the sound is only coming from the driver side. Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll tell you guys what it is cause if the tire store cant find it, I'll take it in and see what they have to say about it.
