VQ35HR (P0345) Cam shaft Sensor Bank 2 Error
My car started to throw this code recently. I looked it up and it said that. I followed the procedure in the FSM, and tested both sides of my cams sensors. The passenger side had continuity on two of the three connections, while the other sensor on the driver side only had continuity on 1. I reset it, it hasn't come back yet, but that is what I found recently.
Has anyone else had this problem happen? When it happened is when my car was on the dyno, and it lost power after 6500 or so rpms and hit like a fuel cut. It also did it on the track.
Let me know. Thanks!

Check the wiring, there is a green connector that goes to that sensor if I can recall correctly and it can fray or split the wiring easy...
If it is bad you will lose gobs of powa......

I checked the connectors, and they were fine. I even removed the sensors looked at them, and tested with my multimeter. One when it heated up went open on continuity. Which was Bank 2. That might be a issue.
You've nailed it. Some intermittent sensor failures only happen when the sensor heats up. Replace it.

Question: did you replace the sensor? If so, was it necessary to "reset" or "reflash" the ECU after??? I have had two dealerships tell me it is necessary to "reflash" the ECU after changing out a camshaft position sensor. I have a hard time trusting dealerships though.
I did, and it hasn't shown back up again. You have to reset the code in the ECU to clear it.
Then yesterday my bank 2 sensor just started acting up....all the same symptons. P0345 code (bank 2 driver's side) this time instead of P0340 (bank 1 passenger side). My car is a 2003 model.
I'm going to replace the crank sensor as well while I'm at it.
Funny thing is that I wanted to replace all 3 sensors the first time this happened, just to be on the safe side. And both the parts guy & service advisor thought I was stupid and pissing money away. Well, this is the exact reason why I wanted to buy all 3 sensors back in January (the recall Nissan had replaced all 3 sensors).
I'm glad that I know what the issue is now and that it threw a P0345 code because I had hot start issues this past week and this explains it all.
I replaced my bank 2 sensor camshaft position sensor (P0340) and crankshaft position sensor on Monday. Car runs awesome now and does not hesitate to start like it had been doing for the last week.
hi z guys, im having the same problem. my z is throwing a p0345 code. replaced my battery but was still cranking long b4 starting up. also are any of u experiencing associated w/that problem, once my engine starts all 3,sevice engine, tcs, and slip light goes on and stays on. but my car idles fine and drives normal. no lost power or compression or signs of wanting to die out at all. any help would be great. thnx.

The plastic clip that is connected to the sensor is a huge PITA to figure out the first time.
You'll need to unplug your battery overnight or clear out the codes manually (Google Technosquare's website).
This is not something I would pay a dealership to do.....they will charge you around $350 parts/labor. I paid a dealership to change out my sensor on the passenger side because they talked me into believing that the ECU needed to be reflashed (false).
FYI, I grew up outside of Chicago :-)
