Default Car seems laaazy in the morning..

Hey all,

for the past year or so, it seems as if the idle time from when I start the car until it drops to around 600 or so RPMS has gotten longer and longer. I am the kind of person who will not take off until the car is close to the steady idle mark (atleast udner 1000rpms) Lately, seems like the car likes to stay at 1500 or for atleast 4-5 mins then slowly makes its way down to where its supposed to be.

It's fine when the car is warmed up and has been driven (like to the store, then leaving the store), but as soon as it cools down (say 4 hours) it's the same way. Car never did this originally but it's been bugging me latley and now I think this is a problem that should be addressed, no? What is causing this or is this normal? How long does it take everyone elses to idle down? 06 350z Manual with 53,000 miles.

Thanks!!

Yes, amazingly, it could be 20 degrees or 90 degrees, takes about the same amount of time. 2 years ago, whether is was hot or cold out, seemed like the Z was idling nice and low after a minute... minute and a half at the longest.

Once it's warmed up does your Z idle normally?

Yes, once it's warmed up it idles normal and smooth. If I shut it off after driving for a bit and start it back up after a few minutes, it's idles right back down like it should. Just makes no senes that the car starts and idles like it would if it was 20 degrees in the morning everyday.

It's not in my head, either, I've even had buddies mention "why aren't we moving yet?" Oh sorry, my car's not ready yet... etc.

Edit: Dealer checked the battery, good as new. I asked them about the idle and they weren't sure, it idles right down fine and quick for them, but the car wasn't cold (say the next morning). If you all are bored, I'll get a vid of it in the morning and you can watch paint dry... lol.

Ya, I wouldn't worry about it, my G coupe runs lethargically for about 3 minutes every morning when I drive to school. During those three minutes, the car accelerates poorly, shifts decently hard, and I can hear what sounds like radiator fluid starting to circulate. However, after that time period, the car accelerates perfectly, shifts softly, and I hear no further circulation sounds for the rest of the day.

Try pouring a Starbucks triple expresso in the gas tank in the am.

Is that the secret to more power? And I thought sponsor stickers everywhere was the way to go... lol.

Yeah, I figure it's not a problem with the car, per se. If there was something that stood out as a "Oh, maybe you should replace this..." then I'd probably do it as it's stored for winter, oh wells. Guess my car is like a 16 year old on summer break sleeping in til' noon. Damn lazy kids.. lol.
