Angry Transmission? Does it need to be replaced?

I have a 2003 350z and it is my first manual car i own. when i start accelerating from1 to2 then to 3 its smooth but i dont shift to 4 i go to 6th and it grinds when the cluth is fully pressed in. it also happends somtimes when i go from 3 to 5th and i was wondering does the Zs do this to other people and would i have to replace it or am i just a dumb guy and should never shift from 3rd to 6th. because i have skipped gears in a audi a4 and it never grinds.

Thanks for any replies

It shouldn't grind, but that is different type of grind from what the rest of us have had, take it in and see what they say.

You need to go through each gear regardless if you are goign to use it. or dubble clutch.. the grinding you hear is the syncros.

ie..

clutch in...1st...clutch out...clutch in...2nd...clutch out...clutch in...3rd....clutch out...clutch in....4th...5th...6th...clutch out

This will help your cars tranny last longer...

Now if you do this and still get a grind.. something is wrong for sure

TURBO-The replacment for DISPLACMENT
A turbo (or supercharger) has to have some sort of displacement to attach to in order to function. Thus it is a supplement to displacement. This, in turn, negates the assumption that you can replace displacement with forced induciton by proving that even a bigger motor than another motor can be turboed. It is like math. You can add 1 to any given number (infinity). You can always add one cubic inch.

I skip gears and don't get a grind, I thought double clutching was not needed since we do have a modern transmission with synchros.

It is not a absolute requrement.. but it will help the tranny last longer...

some trannies will grind when skiping gears others will not... but in general it is not a good pratice to repete over and over again.. the problem is placing excessive stress on the synchros. Doing this while downshifting can cause alot of damage. So it is somthing that should be avoided...

Can a tranny take this a few times with out any damage sure .. but then again a small defect could result in a major failure.
