Window constantly rolls down half way
Every time I roll up the driver side window by pressing the button up all the way, the window will roll up, then roll back down 6 inches. It only happens with the driver side window and only when I press the button all the way so it automatically goes up.
Any ideas?

This usually occurs when the battery is low or was dead. If the window continues to go down everytime you open and close the door. You need to reset it. Hold down the window switches until the windows roll down and hold it for ~10 seconds. Then hold the window switches up until they roll up and hold for ~10 seconds. Repeat the procedure to be sure and then see if it still occurs. If it does, maybe something is wrong in the mechanism?
I tried holding the down and up button for 10 seconds, but it didn't help. I'll resetting it a few more times tomorrow morning.
Now when I close my door to get out, the window rolls down half way... I have to open the door, close the door while still inside, and then roll up the window again. This stinks.
I hope the motor isn't bad. The motor was replaced last year, but I think it has a lifetime warranty and I still have the receipt.

Rather than getting back in the car to roll the window back up after it drops, you can use your key. Stick it in, turn to the right (pretty sure) and hold. The window will roll up.
A lot of other people that have this problem say poor contacts to the harness can cause this. I believe Jay'Zs car was doing the same thing. It used to only do this every once in a while. Now it does it every time.

i have the same problem. so i cleaned the motor and reseted it and nothing but i found out in my case it only does it when you push it all the way till it goes automaticly. if i push it without going to automatic it goes all the way up and doesnt come down. so now im just dealing with it.
I fixed it. When you reset it by pressing down for 10 seconds and then up for 10 seconds, you can't press the button all the way. I was trying to reset it by holding the auto-button all way for 10 seconds. After trying with just rolling it manually and holding, it worked.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I have a similar problem. I got my 05' 350z in 2012 and have not had any problems with the window on my driver side until now. It is doing this exact same thing and it does it most often when i shut my door. I have noticed that when i go around to the passenger side and lean in turn on the power window again and roll it up it will stay after i hold the window button up and it closes then makes a sort of click. I am not too sure if i should just invest in a new motor. Advice??
If it rolls half-way down right after doing the auto-up button, your motor is going out and that's the car telling you to replace it.
If it rolls down after just holding the up button (without doing the auto-up) then you might have something else wrong.

Lol thread revive!
Not true. I bought my car new in '07 and probably 5-6 years it's had the same exact problem but besides that my window motor has worked flawlessly and hasn't skipped a beat. Going to try the auto reset tomorrow and get this thing fixed for good.
Same here on my Niz. Window is great auto up no good.
