Default Need help error code and transmission related please help

I just finished changing out my spark plugs intake manifold gasket and i bought a brand new valve cover with valve gasket.

I changed them and now after about 48 hours i hit a bump and check engine light came on error code is p1757 i researched this and its a front brake solenoid circuit but the front brakes dont have a solenoid???

we first thought it was the tranny since when i hit bump whole car power stopped it was like driving a 2 banger and it wouldn't shift outta first gear.

but after turned on and off it worked again could go past it.

went to test drive it and revved it past 7k rpm and let it drop and it wouldn't shift out of first gear again not even in manual mode.

Turned on and off and it could shift again

what is going on any insight??

P1757 *IS* transmission related. The front brake solenoid valve tells the AT control module that the front brakes are applied. Either the harness or connector is damaged, it the solenoid itself is bad.

Follow the sticky thread at the top of the forum and find a copy of the FSM. Look in the AT section for DTC P1757 for full details.

i get horrible gas mileage now driving in the city 12-13mpg and before i changed spark plugs i was getting 18-20mpg with the 2 spark plugs covered in oil in #4 and #6 cylinder. can it be caused by my mechanic not hooking everything up properly would it explain the error code as well did he have to unplug something to do with the tcm?

Possibly, but from your description of what was done to the car, It doesn't sound like he would have touched that solenoid. Check around your engine bay for any loose or disconnected connectors.

TCM is inside the transmission case.

I doubt he fooled with a connection at the TCM (transmission case). It's probably something with one of the sensors that feeds info to the TCM. I assume the sensor for the front brake applications is on the ABS module. If the transmission is not shifting into higher gears, then that could explain your drop in gas mileage.

ya he said he forgot to do the maf sensor when we first started the car and the check engine light came on but he did the 5 minute disconnect on the battery trick and then plugged everything in and it ran no check engine light till this morning.

double checked all the wires that i could see everything looks plugged in
