Unhappy Concerns over issues with 350z

I'm new to the forum and I have been reviewing the past week or so since I'm in the market for a new sports car.

I really like the lines the 2004 Z touring but the G35 coupe would more practical. I like the power of the Z over the G35, but the interior of the G35 is way better plus it has a back seat. (Plus when my wife and I have kids)

I've been reading that there have been a couple of issues with regard to the Z to include Window streaks,Tire feathering, NAV Door, and Tranny Grind.

Are these issues in the new 2004's or being seen mostly in the 2003 Z's? What about the G35? Do they have the same type of issues?

I prefer the Z since it will be a 3rd car and I can't imagine getting an automatic or even a 4 seater but am very concerned about some of the issues above.

Should I be worried about these things or are these isolated issues? Is Nissan addressing these issues?

Many think the interior of the Z is MUCH better. I'm one of them. Very subjective since it's all opinion though.

i've seen these issues in both the G and the Z minus the feathering and the nav door (g's don't have a door). YMMV.

btw I haven't had a single problem with my Z aside from the window streaks (which are barely noticeable but highly bitched about on this forum)...but if ya ask me if you're hung up about window streaks you're missing the point of buying a sports car.

I've had my roadster since Aug. I've got 2200 miles on it with no problems what so ever. I belong to a Z club, we have 15 Z 33's. The only problems I've heard of is one case of feathering which has been corrected and a few guys mentioned the window streaks but they don't seem too bothered by them. Most of these guys are fanatical about their Z's.They also said the streaking seems to lessen and eventually disappear with use. If you like the Z I see no reason to not get it. This roadster is my 5th Z going back to the 240 and I still own a 93zx convertible. I think they are terrific cars. The 350 is the best yet.

The only real problem i have is the window streak and its only on one door (drive door)

I have a few rattles in the rear but u are going to expect that with a hatchback..

I have 5400 miles on my car and there is no sign of tire feathering yet...

I had the exact same concerns, don't worry. Go get your Z and drive the hell out of it

I did get the window streaks but dealer fixed them under warranty when I brought in the car for its first oil change.

Don't even think of the G35 unless you only want a "family sport coupe" (that back seat is virtually worthless).

The 350Z is a gorgeous beast that will make your pulse quicken and will turn heads everywhere you go. Sure, I have experienced a few minor problems (window streaks, slightly stiff ride), but the rush of driving this amazing sports car far outweighs any alleged shortcomings.

If you're married with Kids, you should not buy a Z. You see, you will have all kinds of hot chicks throwing various undergarments at you. This could lead to a divorce, and your wife would get the Z. Play it safe, get another minivan!

Heh, JK

I have feathering and streaks. Have yet to get them fixed, feathering is at only 6000miles, just starting to notice the monster truck growl. Even with these minor issues, that so many others are freaking out about, I still love the car. So many dwell on the negative, it's like they are determined not to enjoy life. Keep in mind that the negatives always get posted on forums, it just seems the whiners are more vocal. There isn't a day that doesn't go by that I don't get in my Z and go DAMN I LOVE THIS CAR! Get your Z, you'll love it too.

Think about it, all everyone complains about is window streaks. If you think that is a major problem, it simply means you have never owned an American car.

I have 5000 miles on my car and the tires are perfect, no window streaks whatever that is...mine are spotless. And the exhaust note is unbelievable...whenever i leave a stop light or gas pump or whatever, people always turn around to look.

Wow a whole page of satisfied owners. Doesn't happen very often.

I am also a very satisfied owner. Dealer took a while to get up to date on servicing the Z. But after a year when I knew more about the Z than they, they are now doing a good job. I've had mine a year (22,000 miles) and the dealer has fixed the grease streak on the passenger window. I was never that upset about the streak--just clean the windows.
They also fixed the seat click/rocking without any argument.

I do wish that they would redesign the oil dip-stick but beyond that I don't have any big problems with Nissan.
