Default Trouble Starting, VDC OFF and SLIP lights won't turn off

This problem randomly came up 3 days ago. The car cranks for about 2 seconds before starting, and the VDC OFF and SLIP lights won't turn off. Once it's started though, it runs fine.

Two different places said it might be the crank or tb sensor that's making the car take so long to start, and that they don't think it's the starter or battery. The VDC and SLIP lights were sort of mysteries.

I don't want to take it to the dealership unless I have to, since it's so expensive. Any input is appreciated. It's an 04 G35 6mt btw

You can check the easy stuff - brake fluid too low, brake pads worn, etc.

VDC & Slip lights illuminated all the time usually indicate a failure of the VDC system. That will need to be diagnosed by a dealer though.

i checked the brake fluid, it's at the max line, and the pads aren't squealing, so i'm assuming that they're fine. it could be the alignment problem, but i dont think the alignment's that far off.

any ideas about the problems starting the car?

It could be weak battery. You can take it to most some places (Autozone for example) and they can test it. I believe they can also test the starter on the car too. Mine was slow starting before I replaced the battery.

No CEL, no codes to check.

okay, well i was gonna have the battery checked to see if that was it, but the guy at autozone made it sound like the battery wasn't the problem. either way, my dad knows the service manager at our nissan dealership, so i'm gonna bring it in tomorrow anyway.

from what i've been reading, these 2 problems seem to be separate, but just coincidentally happened at the same time... weird

thanks for all the input

I got those a couple time from my Cam sensor faulting, and of course from a wheel speed sensor.

from your symptoms it's probably the camshaft positioning sensor - 1st bank... had the same problem before... i just got a sensor from autozone... duralast crap we'll see how long it'll last... it does however come with a lifetime warranty though so keep the receipt. also they might give you the wrong sensor so if it looks kinda different from the one you unplug go back to them and ask for a crankshaft positioning sensor (difference is how they are angled)... i paid around $40 ish for mine (they labelled it as a crankshaft positioning sensor after i returned my camshaft positioning sensor seeing it was different from the one i pulled out ($60+ if i remember right))...

good luck!

if it doesn't work take the sensor back out again, wipe it down, and return

then try plan B, dealership?

okay, well the dealership confirmed it, it was the cam sensor. as for the VDC and SLIP lights, we'll have to wait and see if the sensor set those off too. thanks for the help guys
