I brought my car in this morning car a window problem to the local dealership.
problem was: every time i roll my passenger window all the way up it would automatically roll back down
Problem solution : window motor went bad
now the service adviser just called me back saying my battery voltage is low and if they were to replace the window motor i would need to replace the battery as well too, cause it can disrupt the timing on the window. I thought that was kind of ridiculous so i declined on the battery.
i thought they were just trying to get some money out me since everything was covered under warranty.
anybody know anything about that?? or could help me out on this?
thanks for your help

********.
are you paying the dealership for a new window motor + install?
i have a passenger window motor ready to ship for $100 + Shipping.
DIY!
and you obviously don't need a new battery. dealership fraud as usual.

That's the kind of stuff that gives dealers a bad reputation. I think you did the right thing.
If the battery has enough capacity to start the engine reliably, it's got more than enough to make the window work properly.

everything was covered under warranty so it was free..but they advised me my voltage was low and it can disrupt the timing on my window and it can cause the same problem as before.
That doesn't make sense. They replaced the window motor because it was bad. Now they're saying "low voltage' will make the new motor do the same thing. Sounds like total BS.
You haven't said anything about having problems starting the car, so I'm assuming the battery is good enough to do that.

o yea i never had any type of problems with starting the car..its starts like the first day i bought it..lol..werid thing is that the battery gauge still seems the same as well too..im going to take my car to a buddies shop to test the voltage on my battery.
but yea it totally sounds like BS to me to thats why i declined the new battery replacement.

Any chance they're well aware the window motors are a weak point in the car, and are just making something up so that when the next one fails if under warranty still, they can say "oh well that's due to the other problem we told you about but you refused to fix it, so it's not our problem now."
Sorry, been a tinfoil hat night for me.

i took my car to my friends shop and he also said they could not diagnose my abs/vcd light problem until i changed my battery because of low voltage. apparently when he hooked up the diagnostic machine the only code he was getting is low voltage. i swapped out a new battery and then i got the correct code for speed sensors. replaced them now everything is good. hope that helps.
dude - your window is bad when it doesnt move anymore at all...All you need to to do is a reset procedure..
If your window has NO problem going up.. its not the motor.. do the reset procedure and tell the stealership you fixed it in 30 mins...and that you dont need them anymore.. they just want your $$...bet it was a 100 bucks just to "diagnose" the issue...

Your window motor is just fine. Somehow the motor got reset (could be the low eatery voltage problem). You have to open door panel and stick your finger in the panel right behind the motor and locate the reset button. Then hold it while rolled down then again up.
What has happened is that the window motor goes up all the way beyond the stop limit and the safety kicks in and roles it down b/c it senses a resistance in the path (aka A-pillar).
Another reason might be that the sensitivity screw could have wiggled loos making it more sensitive. This will roll the window down whenever any resistance is applied.
