Default shipped new tail lights and were damaged & insured!

okay so i sold some 08 tail lights brand new and shipped them through usps. i paid for up to $400 and was informed this morning by the buyer that he did not accept them because they were scratched up and the box looked beat up and that he was sending them back to me. i filed a claim online with usps since i have put the insurance for up to $400. i am refunding the buyer once i recieve my lights back. any advice on how to get the money from usps or anything?

Doesnt it make more sense to contact the ones that would actually be refunding you about their refund process instead of a bunch of here say

Just stand strong and keep on it. USPS will try to get out of it in my expirience.

Did you insure them though the shipping?

could it be possible that buyer had damaged taillights? Bought new ones. Installed new ones. Beat the box up. Put damaged tailights in box and then received $400 refund = free nice, new taillights?

Not saying that buyer did this, but you never know

USPS sucks when it comes to claims.
They damaged a rim of mine and would never pay.
It was insured by the shipper.
After several months I gave up and moved on.
Most cases for me Fed-ex is cheaper or Greyhound for some larger items..

I think what he's implying is that the buyer had broken taillights, purchased yours, put yours on his car, and then put his in the box and claimed the ones you sent were broken, wanting a refund.

If he refused the package, then this couldn't have happened (no postal carrier is going to risk their government pension to help a guy commit fraud).

nah ive been scammed before for $1400 between buying and selling so even though revenge on other innocent people would help me recover my lost funds i couldnt do it. he said they were scratched and since they were new when i sent them he didnt accept it. so ill just throw them on my car they were free anyways. sell them down the road for $275-300 and make profit
