Default I think i am getting scammed

I think i am getting scammed ?

Ok this all started one day when i had lost my master key in the morning while i went to do my daily sprints around a lake. So after i got done with my exercise i went to my car and pulled out my keys . On my key chain there was only my house key and remote. I panicked because i didn't know how i was going to get home. I then called a friend to come pick me up and left the Z . When i got home i did some research and found that the third closest dealership had my key in stock .That same day i drove to pick it up and got it cut . It was getting late in the afternoon so i decided not to call a tow truck. The next day i woke up early had my car towed to my first closest dealership. I did it because i saved myself about 50 extra dollars. When i got to the dealership i told them if i can have my key programmed because i lost all my keys . They said OK and did it. About 20 min later they had asked me if i had bought the key online because it couldn't be programmed. I said no and told them i had bought it from a Nissan dealership. I told them to explain me and told me that the key wasn't matching and that i should purchase the "right key " . So i thought it could of been true but when i first got the key i had given my VIN number and they cut it perfectly for me . When they saw it wasn't working they told me to buy the "Right Key" that was 117 $ . I said OK maybe thats the problem . SO i told them to do it.

The next day i came back and had the same response . "We couldn't program your key for some reason its not letting us" . ME: I thought you said the key wasn't matching up! I was thinking thats why NISSAN told me to get the key in the fist place " Nissan service guy:Well maybe somethings wrong with the car " Me " i was angered because they fist told me the key might have been the problem and then told me its not the key that is causing the issue. " I was so mad because they made me buy another key that was 117 $ 17 dollars more then what i had gotten the other key for' I had also asked them if they try'd reprogramming the key and remote and they said they try ed everything. So then i was mad and thinking they didn't try reprogramming the key immobilizer, remote and thats why the key couldn't be programmed. My car was working fine and how hard is it to program a car without the keys. . Then after diagnosing the car they told me the Key ring immobilizer was needed to be changed! I was like you have to be kidding me . Till now i still think they are pulling my leg

Nissan tech's please chime in !. Explain to me how is it that you guys program the key to the car with the Fancy Program ? I know it can only be done a t the Dealership and thats why i took it there in the fist place! How is it that a key that was working before started the car and n cant be programmed again?

+for results. I paid over 110 for a spare key+35 to get that key programmed. If you buy your remote+key package on the internet, the remote works but for me the key was useless.

The Ebay key and remote was my first option but i didn't have enough time to wait for the key to get shipped to me. I am a busy guy and its my DD .I think my situation is fishy because there was no check engine light for them to think it needed to be diagnosed .My car was also working properly when i had my key . They also couldnt tell me the code it read because they Forgot"
To tell you the truth I didn't like there service at all ! They made me buy another key that i didn't need. . To be honest i think a smart Nissan Service guy would have try'd the key out first before they sold it to me . I told them to test it out but they said "sorry but we have a strict policy on parts" . I lol because the key i got first came in a bag that had tape and could of easily been pulled out !

When I lost my only key, I called a few locksmiths explaining my problem and telling them the make, model and year of my car. 1 locksmith quoted me $200 to come to my house, make a key and program it. He was finished in under an hour.

When I had to get a new key cut and programmed, it ended up being 200 bucks plus. But, it doesn't seen so bad after what you're going through.

I don't think you're getting scammed per se, although the idiocy of these techs does border on the criminal.

You guys had it good. Only if i had patience and time!

Update ! so today i get a phone call in the morning(9AM ) . I saw Nissan on the caller ID and picked it up ASAP . I was so happy thinking my car was finally drivable. Well that smile turned upside down real quick. Nissan service said that my car could not be programmed . My heart was pounding so fast i told the Nissan guy to save the talk and i will be there in 10 min. I hopped in my beater and burned the tires off my FWD MX-3 . When i arrived the guy took about like 10 min because "he was busy and probably knew i was not a happy camper. He then told me that it was the car mobbilizer (ECU) now and he wanted 360$ for it. I had asked him why did he tell me it was the Key ring mobbilizer ? He said i know its strange" I told him if he had diognosed the car then why didnt he tell me to change that . Nissan guy: "well it was one of the few things it could of been " ME: I thought since you they diagnosed my car wouldntt it tell you exactly what was wrong with it " Nissan guy : Not necessarily the device read a electronic code and it could of been one of a few things ". I went ranting about how they told me something was needed to be changed and it turned out it wasnt the problem. I also said i work on my own car and i would of known if something was wrong with my car. I then had too pay for the **** they changed that wasnt the problem to get my key back. I did that called a tow truck and took my baby home. What a big fuken headache just to get a simple key programmmed to drive my car ! Now on saturday i am trailering my car myself to my friends job at infinity that is about 40 min form were i live so they can get the job DONE !

ME then I felt like for not taking my car too my buddy in the first place . I also felt like leaving the guy like this but that was a no no .

The bad news was i did pay . I think the key wasn't the problem at all . I think it was the tech who try'd programing it . I really thought it was fishy the second time they told me . I wasnt able to get a refund on the key because they kept telling me the same BS that was "the key is cut already and cant be refunded.
