dam noise from rear passenger right wheel...need help!
well i have a silver 2006 6spd touring. i have to what to my payday to take it to the shop. This is a pretty fast car i just beat my friends 2007 mazdaspeed 6 in this car, and it still stock but not for long.
got the car back today and drove home no noise ...shop said it was definitely the wheel bearing and he drove it around too, no noise. So i can say hopefully this was it but i will wait and report back within a few days to make sure the noise is finally gone but for now its gone
I've got the same problem. It's got to be the brake caliper and not the bearing, with mine anyway, because mine only makes noise when I'm braking. I've also already replaced the pads and rotor.
I got the same noise when braking. It is not clicking but it is rotational noise. I had an accident in the left side of the car (in both wheels), so after i finished replacing my suspension I got this noise. I checked the brakes, they were just fine. Same time I realize I had a little play in the bearing and also I saw some grease coming out of the rear axle, so I changed both - the axle and the bearing and the sound was gone. But lately I started to hear the same exact sound from the passenger side... The passenger side was not touched when the accident occurs, I don't see any bearing play and seems like the axle is just fine... Based on my previous experience I figured if I change bearing and an axle, it'll solve the problem! But may be I can avoid spending extra money and just change one of those parts? But logically, I can't figure out which one it is....
This is awesome. I have had the same issue with my rear passenger wheel. Put on new pads and rotors and about almost a month later, i noticed when i am creeping at 1-5 mph and lightly come to a stop, like my breaks are barely engaged, I hear a creaking sound like an old rocking chair.
I have had everyone one listen to it... friends have even rain along side the car as I was driving. We have taken the everything back off, inspected everything and it still does it.
We threw out the idea of a wheel bearing. Maybe that is in fact the case.
Thanks for the help guys.

... So I am experiencing the exact same problems as mk3vento96 and sprayzo. Car is going in on Saturday to get rear bearings replaced. I also decided to just replace my rotors and brake pad while at it. I'll reply with my results once this is done.
Just a question to you guys though, was this problem worse during the colder winter months? Mine did this last year during winter but noise was completely gone during the spring/summer months. And now it's back...

OK Results are in. The culprit was indeed the rear passenger bearing. The wheel didn't make any sounds when we spinned it on the hoist, but it was wobbly as hell. You can actually move it with your hands vertically.
That being said, I decided to replace both sides for peace of mind. The driver rear was replaced successfully. However, another problem came up for the rear passenger side. After we pressed the rear passenger side bearing into the HUB, we found out that my HUB was messed up as well! When we spinned the HUB/Bearing after it was pressed, only one of the bearing ring was spinning. The HUB should be spinning both bearing rings simultaneously. Apparently, you have 1 shot a pressing this, and once you separate a bearing from the HUB, it's toast! This meant I just wasted a brand new bearing and now need to buy HUB as well as another freaking bearing. Anyways, thought I'd share my updates with you guys.
BTW.. for the people that paid the shop to replace your bearing, how much did they charge for just 1 rear bearing? How much did they charge for the labour? Thanks in advance!

Update: It's fixed now and was the wheel bearing. If you do replace the wheel bearing, make sure to take a look at the wheel hub as well. For some reason, my hub was so messed up to the point it only spun 1 part of the bearing so I had to replace that as well..
