Default AC wont turn off please help

i have an 03 Z 110k miles. never had a single problem until today. i get in my car drive a little while and rolled the windows up and turned the AC on blast. about 10 min later i go to turn it off and it will only go to auto. i can turn it on any setting...all the fan speeds work but when i go from the fan speeds to the off postition its like the switch doesnt go past AUTO. but the **** is where its supposed to be. i can have the **** on the lowest fan speed right before auto and its fine, i turn it to AUTO and its still fine but when i turn the switch to off from AUTO it stays on auto. basicallly it stays on auto when in should be off. any help is appreciated. thanks guys

First time I'm hearing that... Try to buy used A/C controls, they usually not expensive, and replace it.

There's a trouble diagnosis diagram in section ATC of the service manual. There are some things you can check before you start replacing parts.

Mine just did the same thing 04 with 86k. Popped the plastic piece up and just wiggled around the plug and it fixed it lol I didn't even unplug it.

I’ve been having this issues for years. Since I hardly drive the car I haven’t bothered w it much. I have disconnected the ac control, wiggled the cable around and cleaned w a napkin. Nothing ever works permanently. My fixes usually last about 10 min. Its pretty annoying.

today I went to the store and purchased electrical contact cleaner. I am giving it a good cleaning and then going to apply the electrical contact spray. Hopefully this does it. If not I will buy a new or used ac control box. My car is a 2005 and only has about 33k miles on it. Its been doing it since about 20k miles. Hope this cleaning fixes my issue. I will post back and let you guys know in case it helps other people out.
