i'm just not sure why the PSI would display normal at warm idle (30 psi), but abnormal at high RPM (~110 psi) if it was a faulty sensor... if it was faulty, wouldn't it display weird numbers ALL around?
what's the optimal PSI for say 5k rpm?

This is too weird....Mine did the same thing. Went to dealership had them put mobil 1 in it and the same thing with the oil pressure. At idle 30ish and when taking off heads toward the 120 mark. So whats the deal is it the sending unit or what? Whats also strange is that it was fine before the oil change. Stayed between 60 and maybe 80.....
With only having my 2006 350 Z roadster for 2 months now and reading all these things on oil consumpstion..... It seems like my new and shiney ride is starting to dull on me....

nope, scratch that. it was fine for the drive home, then today i started it back up and its high again. dang, now im on on a mission to figure it out lol, not the sensor, it something mechanical.
im having kind of the same problem but on the other end. when i idle it drops to almost 0 and the oil light comes on. when i start driving it barely gets to the first notch. im about a 1000 away from a change so i dont know if thats the case. can it damage anything with low oil pressure??
also i pulled the stick and oil levels are fine on there..

i dont understand why someone would think that needing an oil change in the future would cause low oil psi...has nothing to do with it at all...if ur oil level is correct then that is not ur cause...i would be willing to bet it is the sensor just like above..try tapping the gauge as there have been a few people who had an actual faulty gauge...yes low oil psi is very very bad and u should not drive the car until figured out imo..that will cause a blown motor is no time
i just got an oil change on my 06 Z. Iv noticed the oil pressure guage reads close to 120psi when im driving. at idle its fine but when i take off from a red light, its starts creaping up to the 120psi mark. I know this isnt normal cause usually it stays around the 60psi mark.
any one know whats wrong?

Sorry for bringing this back to life. But I have been having the exact same problem. Got my oil changed two days ago and now on a cold start it hits right on 120psi, and after warming up it will get down to 30psi like it used to. But if I get to 3500 rpm (after already being warmed up) it spikes past 120psi. Not sure what could be causing it. It was valvoline 5w30 that went in. I'm thinking maybe they damaged the sensor during the change? Beside that i don't really know what would cause that directly after an oil change. Has anyone had this problem and fixed it?
