Default rattle noise from 1500-2000 rpms

Hey guys,
Anybody out there have or had an issue with their Z where a loud pinging noise occurs between 1500-2000 rpms. I'm pretty sure its coming from the left side of the engine cabin. I've been hearing the noise for about a month now and it's been bothering me but I can't seem to figure out what it is. I've got 32,000 miles on it and the only mod is a nismo intake. I've heard from other forums that it could be a loose exhaust shield but when I went under the car to take a look at the shied it looked pretty tight. I don't want to take to it the dealership because I know they'll give me a hard time so I want to ask you guys first before I go to them as a last resort.

Thanks in advance.

Does it make the pinging noise at steady speed, when you're accelerating gently, or only when you're really getting on it?

Yeah, its definitely a pinging sound coming from the left side. It only happens when my foot is on the gas and the car revs in between 1500-2000 rpms but it stops immediately after I release the pedal. I've heard the sound could come from a loose exhaust heat shield, dirty throttle body, worn spark plugs, etc. I'm going to take the left intake off this weekend to check the throttle body but if I don't see any crap I'm at a complete loss. Which is going to suck because this sh*t is annoying.

It doesn't really matter if I'm accelerating gently or have the pedal to the metal, when the needle passes by 1500-2000 rpms, the ping happens.

i had that pinging noise from what seemed like from under the car. turns out, it was the y pipe hitting the bracket.

try to loosen the y pipe and torque it back while pushing the y pipe as far up as possible.

Turns out my left air intake pipe wasn't secure against the heat shield. I made sure that sh*t was tight and the rattle is completely gone. I'm so relieved it wasn't anything serious.

Thanks for all your help fellas.
