Default HELP MEH! .. hiss noise from AC comprsr when OFF

Hello,

So lovely.. my car always has something lame break RIIIIGHT before its about to go to the shop for stuff I dont need. MONEY PIT>
Anyways..

over the last 2 days my 05 (96k mi) has developed a garble/hiss noise when the A/C compressor is OFF ( and thusly disengaged. )

Turn on the A/C.. sound goes away immediately.

The sound is quite like the "rocks in a blender" sound of a lightweight flywheel, and its just like pushing the clutch in n out if you had one.. sound, no sound... sound.. no sound.

ANy idea what type of failure Im heading towards? I cant imagine the A/c being a cheap fix.

ANY HELP IS MAD APPRECIATED> this sucks. btw a/c operates fine otherwise.

i guess afeter some major digging.. im curious if my A/C works fine to cool the car down, but it makes the above noise ( belt squeaked the other day too btw) that JUST the bearing may be bad... makes sense.

But if thats the case, i guess im wondering if that beainrg is in the compressor unit itself or just the clutch assembly, and if so, I can just replace the clutch assembly as its an available part from NIssan... just wondering if it makes more sense just to pull the whole damn thing or to fix the single bad part.

If i can get a brand new a/c clutch from nissan for 260 and have brand new bearings ( ?) id like to do that over buying a 150 dollar used full a/c compressor from slidegood and still ahve 60k miles on my part.
Again, not sure where that bearing is located.
any help is appreciated.

Ill also add that this only seems to happen when the car is cold.
So first start up in the AM, etc.

Again, any help would be appreciated.
