Default Locked up motor. Need your opinions. . .

So I'm on my way to work Wednesday morning driving down the road during a bad thunderstorm through the waters, not too high at this point, following behind a big dirt truck near the middle of the road...everything was going great till an 18 wheeler decided to come barreling down from the opposite direction throwing his wake into the dirt trucks wake sending a wall of water over my hood into my intakes and locking up the motor. what a bad way to start a day...

Just got the word from Nissan earlier today, not from insurance (don't think they know yet)....gonna need a new motor but the claims guy from progressive won't be able to get there till tuesday to see what's going on and make a decision. . .so since the opportunity has shown itself I'm brainstorming as to how I can find a performance motor that has warranty for the price they would have to replace that one...they were talking about how, in that situation, an insurance company would most likely get a used low mileage motor from a place called LQK (I think I said the name right) and I don't like that idea cause i don't know how well the other motor was taken care of...I wonder what progressive is gonna allow...

anyway, it's an 07 with 59k miles and it's been strong up until this point so i was wondering if any of you guys have been in a similar situation with an insurance company and if so what was the outcome of it. . .i'm looking for options other than a used low mileage motor. . .but i may not have a choice in the matter. . .thanks for reading. . .

I'd bet that the locked engine is the most obvious tip of the iceberg of problems you'll have with the car. For sure the electronics under the hood got soaked, along with water in the wiring, transmission, and rear end. If they don't total the car, I'd ditch it as soon as possible.

Was the car equipped with CAIs or stock intakes?

i have an 07 motor i could probably get you for a decent price if you wanted to pocket some cash. if they price one high. this motor i have access to has 24k miles on it those miles were highway miles, not ragged, he just was on the interstate a lot.

thanks kramy i'll keep that in mind. . .what's the reason for the motor being out of the car. . .

winchmen, it didn't get flooded as you might think. . .just a little water on the pass floor board and the majority of the water was pushed over the hood into the intakes (stock intakes). . .k&n filters were soaked when i pulled them out. . .I wish GTM blocks were cheaper. . .

midz, sucks. . .were they insurance claims or was it out of pocket. . .

talked to nissan again today. . .motor is definitely deceased. . .talked to insurance also and they said they located a motor with 19,xxx miles for $2900. . .i still don't like the idea of having someone else motor in my car cause i don't know how it was taken care of. . .but i may just take that and see if they would give me my motor back. . .tear it down and see if the block and heads can be salvaged. . .if so i'd just build a nice low comp. stroker motor. . .Kramy pm me a price that your friend would ask for the motor. . .thanks. . .
