Default 03 350z Engine knocking/ smoke from exhaust

my 03 6mt with 75k miles has this 'ticking' sound coming from the top end of the motor... the ticking speeds up when i step on the gas.. and It also smokes up every morning when I start the car.. I believe it is white smoke
The idle is a little shaky.. The car has no 'ooomph' when Im going WOT. It is very weak.. It doesnt 'pull' like a real 350z should. It is very weak.. Even when Im in its power band, it accelerates very slowly..

Sparkplugs were changed 10k miles ago.

What could be the issue?? am I experiencing 'rod knock'??
Is this the end of my motor??

=(

White smoke indicates coolant in the combustion chamber. This is not a foolproof method of diagnostics. Bad fuel injectors will also cause white smoke.

The ticking sound could be many different things like your fuel injectors, your valves. if could be your valves lash simply running out of specs or bent valves (if u ever mishift and overev the engine). commonly, it's just the noise the loud fuel injectors make. if u want to b sure, do a compression/leak down test.

SO a compression test will let me know if my valves are bent/stuck?
I will get this done and report back.. how much does this typically run? also.. should I do a dyno? or is that a bad idea? Im sure My hp is not where it needs to be..

NO DYNO! if you think something is broken or going bad don't make it worse. If you or a friend are the least bit mechanicaly inclined you can buy a compression tester at an auto parts store and do the test yourself. It takes time but will save you alot of money. Not sure what the cost of the test is,all depends on labor rates and how long it takes.
1. can you determine what side of the motor the noise is coming from? ( start there )
2. have you checked plugs, wires, injectors? ( make sure they are all connected ) pull the plugs out on the side that sounds funny and see what they look like.
3. If you had a rod knocking you would probably know it, sometimes with a rod knock you loose no power like you are describing.

Keep us up to date. Good Luck!

The ticking is coming from the top end of the motor.. Its strange.. it doesnt reeally get louder as i accelerate, but it speeeds up.. Im not mechanically inclined at all... So Im gonna have to let a pro handle it.

ive also performed the Ecu reset and filled it up with premium gas...
in case the previous owner was using regular and caused a knock...

knock is still there.. and car is still sluggish as hell..
I wonder if its even putting 150 hp to the wheels... i doubt it. 0-60 happens in like 10 secs.
