Default RPM jumping wildly

Hi, I just bought a 2007 Nissan 350z Manual Transmission VQ35HR. Whenever I started my car in the morning I waited for 5-10 minutes before driving it(to warm up the car) After this, I drove it out normally with first gear RPM around 1500-2500 but what happened was the RPM needle jumped up and down wildly around those RPM(1500-3000), then I pulled over and tried to drive it again and it happened again and after the third time trying it again, there was no problem to it anymore. When this happened, I would pull over immediately and try slowly revving it up again a few times, then it is gone. Usually this happened only in the morning or when the car is still cold. I think 5-10 minutes of warming up a car is enough, please correct me if I am wrong.

This doesnt really bother me because this only happened when i started the car in the morning. But I am afraid in the long run it would affect the car very badly so before anything goes wrong, I am looking for a solution from the seniors here.

Thanks.

You're wasting gas and possibly damaging the engine by the excessive warm-up routine. The owner's manual says to wait 30 seconds, then drive the car at moderate speeds.

It's best to avoid excessive engine speeds and heavy throttle application until the car is fully warmed up. That usually takes several miles depending on the weather, etc.

Welcome. I do not warm a cold motor before driving off, but it should not matter. The bouncing RPM may be the result of several problems including:

1. MAF sensor. Clean it.

2. ECU. Try a reset.

Same situation here & it doesn't matter if it's cold start or not. Even after new MAF, new TB, ECU reset several times, Still no luck.

I don't know exactly what causes it , I'm planning on getting a tune soon, Will see if it helps.

The Actual Engine is also bouncing up and down. I do not know if the sputtering thread is the same issue as this. This happens when I am driving in the morning after the 5-10 minutes warm up. But this only happens for 1 minute. Then it disappears

Do you know if this problem is the same as the sputtering stickied thread? I saw the stickied sputtering thread and there are videos showing it sputter at idle but mine happens when I drive it after 5-10 minutes warm up. I havent tried it at idle though. The RPM jumps up and down so wildly around 1500-3000rpm i have to pull over.

Anyway this is the link to stickied sputtering thread

No, It's totally a different issue, Sputtering happens for me always after a cold start. Some people reported that it's related to the oil, I tried different oil velocity with no luck. I always use premium gas but it's still happening .

So are you saying my problem is different from the link above? Have you read all the 32 pages? It seems that it is the same but from the video they are doing it on idle, but mine is when I am driving it.

My car sputters only one time after every cold start, But the RPM will jump ( I can say that the car shudders ) every time i start moving the car from a dead stop while applying light throttle .

If you want suggestions for a fix, then provide the year of your car, the mileage, any engine modifications you've performed, your maintenance schedule (do you follow one?) and the conditions under which the issue manifests itself. The thread above does not necessarily apply to your car in an apples to apples comparison.

Default About Idle or Rpm misfire Resolved!!

Hey guys i got 05 nissan 350Z which i had to just a couple of weeks bought it not too long ago. I was having problems with the Rpm's being dumb. It would feel like it had a misfire when i had already replaced the coils, MAF and also the sparkplugs brand new from dealer but here is were the problem was after replacing all these parts i never disconnected the battery and never did the re learn process to the car so after i disconnected the battery and did the relearn procedure everything got back to normal here is a link to the steps you have to do, but be careful because it has to be done correctly http://www.technosquareinc.com/350reset.htm. Hope this helps alot of people having problems with misfires out there. So everytime you disconnect the throttle body plug of battery you have to redo the relearning process
