Default Cruise control blinking fast.

Hi, my cruise control acts up. When I try to set it the "set" light blinks really fast and then it doesn't work. I have looked around on different threads about this but havnt found much help. Anyone ever had this problem? I don't wanna take it to the stealership and get bent over yet lol wanna hear some ADVICE/INFO on it first. Thanks

Video would be helpful. What size tires are you running? VDC? TCS? Road conditions?

First, Scan for any error codes. Could be a bad throttle body.

is your car a manual? if so check the clutch pedal where the cruise control engagement point is by the fork.

From '07 service manual page EC-30:

When the ECM detects any of the following conditions, the ECM will cancel the cruise operation and inform the driver by blinking indicator lamp.
Engine coolant temperature is slightly higher than the normal operating temperature, CRUISE lamp may blink slowly.
When the engine coolant temperature decreases to the normal operating temperature, CRUISE lamp will stop blinking and the cruise operation will be able to work by pressing SET/COAST switch or RESUME/ACCELERATE switch.
Malfunction for some self-diagnoses regarding ASCD control: SET lamp will blink quickly.

Tire sizes, etc. affect TCS and VDC, not cruise control. It's controlled by the computer, if something's wrong, rather than drive you into a fiery crash resulting in death, it decides not to lock your throttle and indicate it with a fast blinking light to get your attention.

Read your owners manual, it tells you exactly what to do...

Cruise set switch indicator light (if so equipped)
The light comes on while the vehicle speed is
controlled by the cruise control system. If the
light blinks while the engine is running, it may
indicate the cruise control system is not functioning
properly. Have the system checked by
your NISSAN dealer.

I'll guess $200, based mostly on wishful thinking.

Hey brocw1093,

Were you able to fix the problem? I have the same issue as you and I was hoping you can help me out.

Mine just started doing this. 100% totally stock 08 grand touring. only difference is mine does it when driving not using cruise control. i rarely use cruise control, but when it does happen, cruise doesn't work. it doesn't affect anything as far as I can tell, except for the annoying rapidly flashing green "set" indicator. guessing this is gunna cost way too much to get rid of.

What exactly is "ASCD control"?

Mine just started blinking today...looked up the ascd up and courtesy parts.com lists the part for $20.40. Anyone else here have the same fast blinking issue and it ended up being the ascd?
