Default My Rear View Mirror broke (best way to repair it)

What's going on Z-peeps?

So I went to adjust the rear view mirror in my '03 350Z this morning only to have the thing snap off right at the cover (It's the stalk that holds the actual mirror in place- 96328 in this diagram: http://bit.ly/iQSHwe ).

After dispensing a sailor amount of colourful language regarding Nissan's stellar quality control, I started to formulate the best way to go about repairing the stupid thing. I was thinking of simply gluing the mirror back onto the "cover" or stalk but I don't want it to fall off a few months down the line. Alternatively, the parts are only about $60 so replacing the entire unit isn't outside the realm of possibility for me.

WWYGD? What would you guys do?

I'm not sure that an 8 year old item breaking is a Nissan "quality control" problem. Hopefully when you buy a new one, it will last for another 8 years.

Let me reiterate, I would say that in my particular 350z the quality of the iterior bits is lackluster relative to other makes. For example, my Corolla is 21 years old and it hasn't had ANY interior trim pieces fall off thus far. I'm no ham-fisted driver either so I have no idea why the rear view mirror would fall off at such an early age..

Thanks for all of the input guys- I decided to buy the $60 replacement part from nissanpartszone.com and I'm going to tackle this motha on Friday!
