I notice when i was reinstalling my strut bar after doing my coils if you rev it to anything above about 4k rpm's slightly after i let off the throttle a sound that sounds like a blow off valves occurs... The sound is comming from the passenger side engine bay.its loud enough to where i can even hear it when im in the car if i have my windows down. dunno if this could be a vacuum leak or somthing. Anyone had this happen before? Thank you for your comments.

It's not a long lasting noise. It's a quick sharp sound.... Like a small turbo lmao

 

Drift Relief Valve or DRV. Pretty common.

 

check your oil...i had a friend that didnt give an f about his celica and it made a high pitched noise under hard acceleration, i was perplexed, checked everything out, didnt know what was up until i checked his...his complete lack of oil

 

DRV? Is that the same thing as a turbo defibulator? Lol

 

Ok I'm ashamed to say but I was 2qts low on oil. I changed my oil about 3 to 4mo ago or about 3kmiles and it's 2qts low?! Never had this problem before. Guess I'll have to see if it keeps up.

 

I never got the weird noises, but after I was done with autoxing one day(5 hours after I finished I looked to see my oil pressure at 0 and my oil light on. No leaks, but I somehow burned that much oil in 4k miles. So...don't feel bad? lol.

So far so good. But I was on a long trip when I added oil so dunno if the added oil fixed it or it being warmed up fixed it. I'll know more after today. But I'm Gunna change oil and keep an eye on my oil level for sure

What all is done to your z? Mine makes a sound kinda like a bov around 2k on declaration. My oil is fine and changed regularly so that isn't the issue so I'm interested in following this.

As soon as I put hfc's/ then later tp's/ on my car, this was the most prominent thing, letting off the gas/shifting/decelerating in the 2-4k range made my car sound like it had a blow off valve. I'd venture to guess your cats are going bad!!
