Default Vibrating Stick

Alright,
Well for those of you who were on my other thread pertaining to my vibrating stick issue I hope you can find this thread due to an Mod who inconsiderately closed the thread when people were really wanting some information.

After getting home from work I took apart everything around my stick so I could see straight down to my axel. After driving it for 2 minutes I immediately saw what the problem is. The mechanic for (carelessly as mentioned before) worked on my car didn't put a piece on right that is underneath the stick. It is a large rubber piece that is rubbing on the axel creating a loud noise and the vibration. It explains why it is present whether the car is in gear, nuetral, on or off, accelerating or not. The only issue is I dont see an easy way to get to it if at all so it may have to have the tranny dropped to fix this piece. Needless to say I will be calling the mechanic about it tomorrow morning.

Wow, glad you got it sorted out. I would call the shop that did the shoddy work and tell them you want them to pay for another shop to do the work. I wouldn't let them touch it.

If they won't go for it, then personally I would still take the car somewhere else and take the original shop to court.

Also, you should update your post in this thread with info from the old thread so people searching can find the info. Maybe include a link to the other thread as well?

Yeah maybe its the dust boot? I'll take a picture from the top and post it on here. Its directly under the stick, and directly above the axel. If i could fix this myself and not have to take in anywhere that would be nice, but yeah just don't know if its possible to work with without having the tranny out.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the driveshaft, which passes directly below the shifter.

its ghetto rigged right now ha I'm in the process of arguing with the mechanic, and also trying to figure out for sure if it's something he did or not. I found the part and a diagram online, but I've waiting to here some responses on a different thread about it. I tried to take some pics but the part wouldn't really show up ha But yeah right now to keep it from making noise, I have the rubber piece tied to the metal bracket under my stick to keep it from dangling on the driveshaft...GHETTO. haha
