wierd noise when shifting into 2nd
I have a 2006 350z 6spd and when I shift into 2nd when I'm driving it sounds like metal is hitting metal and its a really loud sound. It didnt do this when I was sitting still seeing if it still made the noise, only when I'm shiting. I just had the car in the shop for belts and a o2 sensor being reaplaced and they didn't say anything about anything else being wrong. Is there something I'm doing wrong or not pushing it hard or light enough into 2nd? thanks in advance.

nothing. I know the 2003-05 models had problems but this isn't a griding noise, I've driven a 2003 and this isn't it, it's more of like the shifter trying to get into gear and it sounds like its hitting something but it's only when I drive not when I just sit there. It does it like 85% of the time which leads me to believe I'm doing something wrong and it only does it into 2nd gear, idk.

The problem with the first transmissions is the synchos. Which if there is a problem with them they will only shownwhile moving. You'll need a new trans or a rebuild with new or upgraded synchros. You can also upgrade the whole trans which is what I did and get the cd009 trans and I am extremely happy I did that.

My 2004 Roadster has the same problem. I find it helps to grag out 1st a little longer (3000-3500 RPMS) then it slides into second perfectly (atleast mine does) guess they just like to be driven fast?

I did this today and it worked perfectly. definitely wierd though haha. Also, another thing thats wierd is that when it does make that noise it only does from 1st to 2nd. When I downshift or go from neutral to 2nd when I'm coming off the highway it never makes this noise. Oh well, I won't worry about it since I'll be shifting at 3500 now.

Necrobump I know, but how can you tell what transmission you have? My 2007 350Z Nismo is developing a transmission grind through all gears despite being driven gently. Currently at 48,000 miles. Wonder what transmission model I have.
