Default low rpm rattle!! PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey guys, I just got my Z a few weeks ago, its a 03 with 84k, and I have a annoying clangy metallic rattle when i take off in 1st, the rattle only occurs thru 500-1500rpms then it disappears, theres no rattling while im idling whether the clutch is in or out. It only occurs while moving slow (louder when going uphill) at low rpms

The dealer said it was a throw out bearing but that didnt seem right since there was no rattle while idling, anyone have any ideas? thanks.

Out of curiosity: is it strictly in first, or is first the only gear you're below 1.5k in?

It can be heard in any gear if the rpms r low enough (below 2500)

i had the same problem, it turned out the person had an exhaust on the car before i bought it and the bolts on the exhaust weren't fasten tightly, so check that out. it could be a threaded bolt that is leaving a cap between the exhaust and the y pipe.

I'm also betting on the exhaust. The reason it doesn't do it in idle is because the engine isn't under load. Does it make the noise if you're in 1st gear with the clutch in, not moving? If so, it's probably the exhaust.

Put the car on a lift and check all the bolts for tightness. Also see if you can spot any places that show wear from rubbing on the pipes or chassis.
