Default Code P0455

Engine light came on my 2006 z with 66k two days ago and I went to autozone and received the code P0455. I checked the gas cap and turned it like 6 clicks. Didn't turn off. Got under the car and checked hoses and under hood. The hoses look fine. Any tips on figuring this out? Might just go to autozone and get it cleared to see if it stays off.

Look up your code here to see what it is:
https://my350z.com/forum/maintenance...d-generic.html

If you want to clear the code to see if it comes back, follow this procedure:
http://www.technosquareinc.com/350reset.htm

If you want to troubleshoot the possible problem, check the Service Manual:

I already know the possibilities of what that code entails. I've searched every thread on here on what to check and I've checked everything they mentioned. I still do not know what could be the problem. Perhaps I may be missing something. Thanks for the links, I suppose.

You might not be able to "see" a leak in the evap system.

Here's a link to a little info.

Have you checked the Service Manual link that I posted?

Section EC - page 357 will walk you through all of the possible causes and the proper troubleshooting steps to determine the cause.

For example, all of these items can cause that code, and the SM provides detailed instructions for checking each possible cause:

Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close.
Incorrect fuel tank vacuum relief valve
Incorrect fuel filler cap used
Foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap.
Leak is inline between intake manifold and EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve.
Foreign matter caught in EVAP canister vent control valve.
EVAP canister or fuel tank leaks
EVAP purge line (pipe and rubber tube) leaks
EVAP purge line rubber tube bent.
Blocked or bent rubber tube to EVAP control system pressure sensor
Loose or disconnected rubber tube
EVAP canister vent control valve and the circuit
EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve and the circuit
Fuel tank temperature sensor
O-ring of EVAP canister vent control valve is missing or damaged.
EVAP control system pressure sensor
Refueling EVAP vapor cut valve
ORVR system leaks

I had this code pop up a few weeks ago, turned out it was what SparkleCityHop said:
EVAP canister purge valve

$100 part, $0 DIY fix. About as easy as it gets. It's an electronic valve, and it was stuck open. I was told it wouldn't do any harm, but it would prevent me from passing an inspection. For me, I just couldn't have the yellow SES light on. It drove me nuts!

Only way to find out which of the +10 codes above it could be is to run a full diagnostics. Autozone will only isolate down to the list above.

Ahh. Thanks. I appreciate your help. Autozone ran the code and only gave 4 different possibilities. Would the code give every possible problem or just certain ones?

Also, I cleared the service light and drove about 80 miles and the light has not come back on.
Should I.still worry about tjay

Those are the possible problems that can cause that particular code - as listed in the Service Manual. Any of those issues will cause that code to come up, so you have to check for each of them until you find the true culprit. The service manual provides detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to do these diagnostics yourself and how to correct the problem item when found.

However, if you aren't comfortable with following the service manual yourself, take it to a mechanic and just use the Service Manual's information to make sure that the mechanic actually fixes an appropriate cause and charges you fairly for the work.

Even if the code didn't immediately come back, something happened to cause it to come up in the first place. I would always recommend performing the proper diagnostic procedures versus clearing it and hoping all is well.

I greatly appreciate the advice. I'll probably try to bring it to a worthy mechanic and bring along the proper instructions. Hopefully all goes well. Thanks again.

No problem. Good luck, man. Hopefully it will be a reasonable fix.

ThatOtherGuy,
Were you ever able to resolve your P0455 code?

I narrowed mine's down to the following before running a more thorough diagnostic:
-EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve (mounted in engine bay)
-EVAP canister vent control valve (attached to EVAP canister)
