Default 03 Getting the New Transmission - is old one scrap?

Well, I've watched for years how all the early 350Z owners had the 6 spd transmission gear grind. My 2003 350Z finally hit 20,000 miles and the gear grind is now pretty bad. I shelled out the bucks for the new transmission. The question now is should I just throw out the old transmission or is there any value in keeping it? From the reading it's not clear to me there is a fix for the 03 vintage 6 spds? I'm headed to have it tossed if there is no reason to keep it. Thanks...

you can get the certain synchro that is messed up and get it replaced at a tranny shop and resell the transmission.

Not worth it just try to sell it for core value and call it a day.

That's true, but I believe OS Giken has a gear set specifically for the Z. You could try rebuilding as some people said and have a backup transmission. Just my two cents.

It's kinda hard to justify keeping a spare transmission for a car with a new transmission when you only drive it 3000 miles a year.

thanks for the input. Yeah, I only have 20,000 miles on the Z but I track the car several times a year. If I thought the original vintage 6 spd could actually be repaired I might keep it.
