hello guys i have a z for 4 yrs now but recently it made a crash now everything is fixed.but when car has cold r been started up my oil pressure meter only gos after 25second and until that meter goes on i hear strange noise from the engine.now i brought my car to skyline/z specialist its now first time i went there.he says blok needs to go out so i can fix oilpump(he says its in 3 pieces and plate or outside needs to be mounted again) and i probably need new crankshaftbearings.costprice 2-3k euro.is this correct guys grtz
The oil pump is a very simple mechanical piece. Its basically a ring gear inside of the housing that spins with the crank. If you damaged the engine during the crash you MAY has knocked the cover loose from the pump, but its unlikely you would see any pressure at all then. If you wrecked hard enough to cause that damage I would suspect the bearings and/or crank may be damaged as well and the whole engine may be junk.
To get to the oil pump you need to take off all the accessories and the front timing cover for sure. I can't remember if the rear timing cover needs to come off as well, but if it does, then the heads need to come off too. Its not an easy job with the engine still in the car.

Only the stuff on the front needs to come off according to the service manual.
