Default 350Z Fans dont come on unless A/C is on.

Bought the car this summer, never really noticed that the fans weren't turning on unless the A/C was on until my car overheated on a road trip...

No A/C = fan wont come on
A/C = fans come on

I tried searching but all the threads say "Take it in for warranty"... well, my car is out of warranty. Anyone know how to fix?

Strange problem. Have you tried calling any local Nissan shops or private shops that may be able to offer some advice? I have a local mechanic and he is very good at diagnosing over-the-phone as he has so much experience.

I actually had this problem recently, about a week ago.

I replaced the Thermostat and the Coolant Temperature Sensor and it fixed the problem, hope this helps

So thermostat, relay, or coolant temp sensor...

Parts arent cheap at all in Canada... anyone know how to diagnose and rule out two of these things?

Is your Check Engine Light on? If so, maybe you can read codes but I am not sure if your problem is serious enough to throw a code.

If I were you, even if someone could help you rule out an issue, you might as well not waste time and get it diagnosed by a proper mechanic.

I dont have money to throw around at a mechanic... ive had 10 cars and never once dropped my car off at a shop for anything other than a wheel alignment. Or the time i dyno-tuned my boosted civic.

These things should be easily diagnosable.

Well, you already have some leads and you think it is easily diagnosable so you should probably get crackin.
