A week ago, my 04's engine started making ticking sound
I currently have 86k miles on her
I'm not sure but i think the sound comes from the actual engine
It's like sth got loose inside
When its in N, it sounds
When I give a lil bit of gas, the ticking sound gets louder
And whenever I give up to 3000rpm, which i usually change the gear at, I can hear it clearly
Will it be the tappet that cause the sound
I will really appreciate if someone can tell me the problem
thanks for your time for reading this post anyway

This sounds very similar to the sounds I was experiencing before my car seized up a few days ago.. I was told by my mechanic that it was the flywheel (???) when i brought my car in the first time i heard it about 9 months ago.
I have an 06 manual and it burns oil. I did notice that when I put in more oil the sound seemed to go away. I check my oil about every other day though.. over the last few months the sound was always there. And now my engine is seized, still trying to figure out what the problem is although im almost certainly its not my flywheel.
Im starting to wonder if it was the valve ticking.. strange thing is: mine would only make the noise from 2500-3500 rpm. Is that what you experience or does the ticking go on up through redline?

Then i think the sound should be gone if i press down the clutch
but it didn't

It makes the sound even it is in Neutral
when the rpm gets up to 3000 then i press down the clutch to change gear right?! It gets louder cos i can clearly hear it
I never go up to redline, but i think it would be the same or louder sigh..

Ok i ve just done a oil change today
after a period of diving the sound seems gone
I will look more tmr when the engine is cool
hopefully it will be alright
besides mine doesn't burn oil either
And it's not 3000miles yet since my last oil change
but i notice the oil is a bit dirty and i do a lot highway mile a week
That's why i decided to go for a oil change
I'd pay 50 bucks to see if it is the way to solve instead of paying more dollars for the inspection
